The King Jesus Trilogy · Vol. 3 · 2012
“This is a life-altering book.”Sarah, a reader on Goodreads.
Which city, and which surviving portrait, would fix a first-century king who has been looked for in Galilee? Jesus, King of Edessa is the third and closing volume of the King Jesus Trilogy. It locates Jesus as a king of Edessa, modern Urfa, in northern Syria, and it points to a statue and a coin portrait, including the spiked radiate crown later read as a crown of thorns. That reading of the coin and the statue is Ellis’. It is not the usual account of Osroene. The book is the one to open when the question is the historical record of that king, after the genealogy of the first volume and the revolt of the second.
